paper lantern star tutorial
Okay, these lanterns are so easy to make!
And if you make 5 of them, you can fasten them into a cute star to hang on your front door! Or wall. Or whatever!
(I'm apologizing in advance for the bad photo quality- this was a night time project)
All you need is 5 pieces of double-sided 12x12 cardstock, scissors, and a hot glue gun (you could probably use regular glue too but hot glue works faster).Fold all the sheets in half so they become triangles.
Cut 5 lines up to center point but DON'T connect the lines. If you do, you'll end up with 5 separate pieces.
See? Leave about this much at top of each cut.
Fold center pieces in and glue.
Now flip over and do the same to the next layer.
...and again and again until...
your paper triangle is now a 3D lantern!
Do the same for the other 4, then glue together in the middle.
Hang, and that's it!Helllloooo Spring!
That's pretty sweet. I may have to keep my eye open for a sale on double sided card stock. Thanks for sharing!

ReplyDeleteI made something similar to that using white and silver glitter paper in a cluster of 6 for "snowflakes" hanging over my desk at work. Very versatile!
